A Kitchen Born from Love of Food
Cafe Rio began in 2007 with a single oven, a borrowed recipe book, and an unshakeable belief that great food brings people together. Our founder, Maria Santos, started cooking for her neighborhood on weekends before word spread across the city.
What started as a small takeout window on South Maryland Parkway has grown into Las Vegas's most beloved dining destination — but we've never forgotten what got us here: respect for ingredients, honesty in every dish, and genuine warmth for every guest.
Today, Cafe Rio serves hundreds of guests daily, sources ingredients from local Nevada farms wherever possible, and continues to innovate the menu while honoring the classics that built our reputation.

The First Window Opens
Maria Santos opens a small takeout window on South Maryland Pkwy with a menu of five items and a dream. Lines form on the first weekend and never really stop.
First Full Restaurant
Growing demand leads to the opening of Cafe Rio's first full sit-down restaurant. The expanded kitchen allows for a 30-item menu and catering services.
Local Farm Partnerships
Cafe Rio formalizes partnerships with five Nevada-based farms, committing to serve at least 70% locally sourced produce — a pledge we've exceeded every year since.
Award-Winning Recognition
Named "Best Local Restaurant" by Las Vegas Weekly for the third consecutive year. Chef Daniel Reyes joins as Head Chef, bringing innovative seasonal menus.
Online Ordering Launch
Cafe Rio launches its online ordering platform and delivery service, making it easier than ever to enjoy our food at home. Over 10,000 orders placed in the first month.
